  • Abstract
    The normal force characteristics of single-sided linear induction motor is analyzed using multilayer theory and finite element method (FEM). It is found that the magnetic permeability of back iron affects the analysis results obviously. In this article the equivalent magnetic energy method is used to correct the permeability of back iron in multi-layer approach. As the simulated object, the normal force characteristics of motor A is calculated by multi-layer approach and FEM and compared. On an experiment platform (arc rotating motor), the normal force characteristics obtained by multilayer approach and FEM are verified by experiments.
