Abstract
Summary from only given. This tutorial discusses the definition, use, and technologies associated with a class of optical amplifiers commonly called amplets (little amplifiers). These devices, though little, will impact next generation networks in a big way. As optical amplifiers have become more prevalent in lightwave networks, a segmentation has occurred in the functional use of these OAs.
