  • Abstract
The concepts of focused and integrated designs are discussed. When a distribution system is in need of improvement relative to some system aspect, integrated design considers using results of multiple design tools rather than employing a single tool. To illustrate the concept, an example involving capacitor placement and phase balancing is given. An overview of software architecture for integrated design is presented.
