Abstract
Tables are presented to aid engineers in the rating and selection of high-ampacity bundled cables for glass industry heavy-current applications. This information is intended to provide cable sizing data in a form similar to that found in the National Electrical Code and for a wide range of applications. The procedure and the relevant formulae utilized in the computer algorithm to obtain the ampacity rating information are described. The data presented in the ampacity tables indicate that substantial derating has to be considered when conductors are bundled in parallel to form high-ampacity cables. The ampacity tables were produced using a previously developed model that is based on the assumption that the cables are tightly bundled.<>
