Abstract :
Techniques to add significant loads to an existing industrial power system, which can serve as the catalyst for its improvement, are discussed. It is shown that, through proper analysis, planning and design, the new combined system can be more reliable, more energy efficient and better prepared for future growth than the original. These techniques, including database development, system evaluation, and reliability considerations, are also suitable for stable systems needing improvement.<>
