Abstract
Summary from only given. Most classical molecular engineering schemes for quadratic nonlinear optics are based on intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) processes from a donor to an acceptor moiety through a /spl pi/-conjugated path. We propose here a new strategy based on through-space donor-acceptor ICT, mediated and controlled by /spl pi/-/spl pi/ stacking in the paracyclophane (pCP) moiety as a three-dimensional (3D) template.
