Abstract
We have demonstrated optical single sideband (OSSB) transmission with standard fibre Bragg grating (FBG). No RF analog circuit is necessary. FBG not only suppress the sideband but also can compensate for chromatic dispersion of the link. The higher data rate is, the better SBSR will be. Therefore, this technique will be ideal for OC768 and beyond. The FBG in our experiment is the as first prototype. We are working on a next-generation design that has even sharper transition and straight group delay response.
