Abstract
Summary form only given. Several spectroscopic and physico-chemical parameters have been measured or collected in the literature for a comparison of the laser potentials of the three principal self-frequency doubling (SFD) Nd-doped laser materials. There are chemical, physical, thermomechanical and optical parameters characterizing the host material such as growth technique. There are also key spectroscopic parameters such as the radiative and fluorescence lifetimes.
