Abstract :
The idea of getting an intense field emission from contacts of nano-layers of materials with different work function was proposed and tested by the authors. The report describes the construction and operation of a new type multi-layer cathodes. Performed experiments and numerical calculations allow to understand the mechanism of the cathodes operation and estimate their achievable emission currents.
