Abstract
A practical implementation in low-end hardware of an online adaptive fuzzy control algorithm is described. The controller starts with a vacuous initial control policy and learns to control unknown systems by autonomously undergoing adaptation in real-time. Limited system- and implementation-dependent information is incorporated in the adaptive algorithm. This information includes input and output signal magnitudes, quantization, delay time and response time parameters. Simulation and actual experimental results are presented for a prototype autonomous controller based on an inexpensive Intel 8031 hardware platform
