Abstract :
A process for the thermally efficient mounting of transformer ferrites is developed. The technique aims to make standard ferrite materials suitable for use with common surface mount technology (SMT) manufacturing techniques. The thermal performance of the proposed process is evaluated for cores mounted to high performance insulated metal substrate (IMS) materials and shown to offer performance or processing advantages over some alternative techniques.
