Abstract
This paper proposes a zero speed control method for electric vehicle (EV) using the switched reluctance motor (SRM). In this method, the assist torque is provided to the motor to prevent the vehicle from moving back. The travel resistance of the vehicle on the slope can be estimated by the minimal order observer. The assist torque is calculated from the estimated travel resistance. The proposed method is applied to the SRM used in the EV. Simulation results show that the proposed method is useful.
