Abstract :
A K-band voltage controlled Gunn oscillator has been designed to get the improved phase noise and broad tuning range of 19.8-26.7GHz. The bias voltage of the diode has shown an important effect on the phase noise of the oscillator. For improving the phase noise, this paper used an active filter and a low pass bias choke on the cap of the diodes. The phase noise has been improved by more than 7dB at 100kHz offset from the center frequency compared to that without the bias filter and choke
