Abstract :
The influence of highway grade on road safety is discussed utilized the data of traffic accident of Hatong highway in Heilongjiang Province China. According to the analysis of braking progress of vehicle downgrade, the variety of vehicle velocities and braking distances after point braking are discussed. With the theory of heat transferring, the heat generation by friction and elimination of heat while vehicle braking are considered, the critical temperature of hot declining of brakes is identified, and the times of point braking and distances of point braking are also analyzed, when the temperature of the critical point reached, then the recommendations values of length of long and steep grade of the separated cross section highway are put forward. The results could be used as references for highway designed to enhance the road safety.
