  • Abstract
Combining the multicarrier (MC) technique with the vertical Bell labs layered space-time coding (V-BLAST), the MC V-BLAST system can better meet the demand of the next generation broadband mobile multimedia communications. This paper proposes a blind channel estimation algorithm for the MC V-BLAST system under the frequency-selective fading environment. A rotation invariance property in the received symbols is constructed by introducing the redundancy in the transmit symbols, and then an ESPRIT-like method is used to estimate the channel state information (CSI). This method has the advantage that the number of receive antennas can be less than that of transmit ones, so it is easier to implement in the mobile terminal. Simulation results demonstrate that the performance of this algorithm improves significantly.
