Abstract :
This paper addresses the problem resulted from limited capacity of STATCOM at medium voltage level of 4.16kV and proposes the solution by combining a three-level neutral point clamped (NPC) based STATCOM with TSC. A 6 MW wind farm is constructed in the co-simulation platform between Matlab and PLECS. The simulation results validate the analytical predictions of combing STATCOM and TSC for the reactive power compensation cost effectively.
