Abstract :
An ad hoc network is a mobile wireless network where the nodes of the network are self-organizing and have multihop routing capability. A pure ad hoc network contains no fixed nodes. Routing proposals for the pure ad hoc networks are extended to provide Internet connectivity through a gateway. An ad hoc network with a gateway is called a hybrid ad hoc network. This paper discusses a new way of thinking hybrid ad hoc networks. We propose a novel routing concept using an extended micro mobility protocol for unicast routing in the network. We show that by using a simple tree-based unicast routing protocol, the multicast routing problem reduces to group membership management
