Abstract :
The paper describes work on the implementation of a grid file based declustering strategy on a prototype multiprocessor database machine, MEDUSA. The paper discusses the implementation techniques used by the authors and reviews the effectiveness of a grid file indexing system within a multiprocessor environment. The MEDUSA prototype is based on a shared nothing architecture, each transaction node comprising a IMMOS T805 transputer and a T222 SCSI interface to a 180 Mb disk drive
