Abstract :
The graphical view of object-oriented databases allows queries to be specified in terms of association patterns in which object classes are inter-related among each other. The proposed object-oriented structural query language (OSQL) is a seamless integration of the association pattern based query formulation and SQLs defacto select-from-where construct. Since it supports both structural and behavioral inheritance and has transitive querying capability, it provides more expressive power and is easy to use. OSQL has its mathematical foundation an association algebra. The constructs of OSQL and several query examples are illustrated
