Abstract
As more and more innovative applications of wireless sensor networks emerge, the need for deploying heterogeneous sensors for fine-grain monitoring of physical environments subjected to critical conditions rise rapidly. In this paper, we propose a novel hybrid forwarding technique based on geographical location with the assistance of gateway node to satisfy performance needs of such applications. The simulation results show that our proposed protocol can achieve better performance both in terms of message latency and energy consumption by appropriately utilizing long-haul asymmetric transmission.
