Abstract
The sliding performance of solid armature is greatly influenced by its structural shape, especially by its arm length. A series of armatures with seven different arm lengths are designed, in this paper, and a small experimental system is built to execute the corresponding experiments. The evaluating method of the sliding performance is introduced, and the experimental results are analyzed by the signal collection curves and the rail condition after experiment. The experimental results show that though the apparent contact area of the long arm armature is bigger than the one of the short one, but the real contact area is not increased with the increment of arm length. At a certain size scope, the longer arm length, the lower sliding performance of solid armature. To the solid armature with good flexibility, its sliding performance can be advanced by properly increasing the initial contact force.
