Abstract :
The conductivity of oil-impregnated paper was measured at applied fields of the order of 107 V m-1. The results, and those of similar investigations carried out by others, suggest that the mechanism of conduction is governed by the properties of the bulk material. The variation of conductivity with applied field measured experimentally is in broad conformity with that predicted by an existing theoretical analysis of bulk controlled conduction previously applied mainly, but not only, to polymers
