Abstract
In the paper an effective noise reducing and edge enhancing filter for color image enhancement is presented. The proposed denoising technique is based on the concept of adaptively truncated vector median and its output is the color pixel which is centrally located in a cluster of most similar pixels belonging to the sliding filtering window. The important feature of the proposed deign is its ability to reduce impulsive noise, while sharpening the edges of objects depicted in the image. Therefore, the proposed filtering framework can be used in variety of applications in which simultaneous noise reduction and edge enhancement is required.
