Abstract :
Summary form only given, as follows. Preliminary results from 1.2 MJ plasma-focus device PF-1000 operating at the moment within the energy range 100-250 kJ are presented. The following diagnostic equipment is used during the first stage of investigations: fast streak and electro-optical cameras; one-frame laser interferometry and shadowgraphy; X-ray pinhole cameras; silver activation neutron counters; scintillation neutron probes; ion spectrometry; and Rogowski coils, magnetic probes, HV dividers etc. To support experimental investigations several numerical codes were prepared namely: 2D code for initial break-down phenomena modelling; 2D MHD eulerian code for modelling of the plasma dynamics; 2D MHD lagrangian free-point code for modelling of the last phase of the discharge; 2D snow-plow code.
