Abstract
A coplanar waveguide (CPW)-fed prong shaped patch antenna is proposed for the radio frequency identification (RFID) application at 5.8 GHz. The proposed antenna is designed on a 13 × 16 mm2 FR4 substrate with thickness 1.6 mm and dielectric constant 4.4. The proposed antenna gain and antenna efficiency are 4 dBi and 98%, respectively. Radiation patterns are symmetrical and omnidirectional in elevation plane and azimuthal plane. These properties and the symmetrical compact structure make the antenna suitable for use as RFID applications.
