Abstract :
E-commerce is trading in products or services conducted via the Internet. It is becoming popular day by day as it provides new ways of doing online business with great efficiency. The rapid advancement of technology has changed the way e-commerce operates, one such advancement is multi-tenant ecommerce. Multi-tenancy is a business strategy in which a single instance of a software application serves multiple customers (tenants). The proposed system is based on multi-tenant SaaS model which makes it possible to have multiple online stores from the single code base and database. Such solution enables an innovative ecommerce business strategy because it allows development and maintenance costs to be shared. The hardware infrastructure of cloud servers would also be shared by all the tenants which increases the system availability. With a multi-tenancy architecture, upgrades to the computing environment (software, hardware and database) would be done only once. Also, as the aim of proposed system is to reduce IT cost, the vendors (tenants) would not be charged any fixed amount instead transaction basis pay per use SaaS revenue model will be applied.
