Abstract :
Base on 3D finite element method a 3D electromagnetic model for a three-phase three-limb power transformer is given and analyzed. Such a model can give not only the correct load losses in windings, but also the satisfied stray losses with measured in the transformer tank. Influences of magnetic shunts on tank losses are discussed. Simulation indicates that the magnetic fields on tank wall are decreased by the covered magnetic shunts, but magnetic fields on tank wall nearest to the abrupt angles or edges of magnetic shunt plates are increased and are stronger than the other parts. Filleting the shunt plates angles or edges may decrease the fields on tank wall.
