Abstract
Second order system is often applied in engineering and many high order systems can be simplified to second order systems. All the systems can be described by tipycal second order differential equation. It is the homogeneous solution of second order differential equation that is most critical in the long-term behavior of the system. For that, a new method of decoupling multi-degree-of-freedom system is proposed by similarity transformation this paper. on the premise of preserving the characteristics for second order system, the question of diagonalizing three system matrices simultaneous can be converted to the question of diagonalizing two system matrices under the same condition by similarity transformation. From the result of numerical experiment, we find that the decoupling method of second order system proposed in this paper is efficient.
