Abstract :
Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is multicarrier transmission technique. It is also a strong contender for fourth generation cellular and land mobile radio systems. One of the major drawbacks with this system is high Peak-To-Average power ratio (PAPR) at the output of OFDM modulator. So the system requires High power amplifier with large dynamic range. Many PAPR reduction schemes have been developed such as Clipping, Clipping and filtering(C&F), Selective Mapping (SLM), Partial Transmit Sequence (PTS) Coding etc. Further PAPR can be reduced by selecting suitable modulation technique. In this paper we analyzed PAPR reduction of OFDM system using PTS with different modulation techniques such as BPSK, QPSK and QAM with higher modulation order (16-QAM, 64-QAM, 128-QAM, and 256-QAM). The simulation result shows that BPSK modulation provides better PAPR reduction while compared with other modulation schemes.
