Abstract :
A novel ultra-wideband (UWB) bandpass filters using planar Marchand balun are proposed and demonstrated in this paper. Based on the intrinsic 180° phase difference of the planar Marchand balun and the transversal filter concepts, one kind of UWB bandpass filter (3 dB fractional bandwidth ranging from 86% to 111.5%) with two transmission zeros located close to the passband can be realized, by cascading a planar Marchand balun and two transmission lines of different electrical length. Detailed design and synthesis procedures for the UWB bandpass filter is provided. Good agreement can be observed between the simulated and measured results.
