Abstract :
A DC/DC power converter is designed which boosts the 5 V DC obtained from the universal serial bus (USB) port of the computer to the meet the load of the programming circuitry of electronically controlled motor (ECM). When a DC/DC converter is turned on with loads consisting of large input capacitors it causes a large inrush current. To eliminate this inrush current the MOSFET, which is used to switch the load in this case can be utilized to limit this inrush current by designing its gate drive circuit so as to take it into saturation region only when the drain current is below designed limit. The paper will present in detail the design of power converter with inrush current protection.
