Abstract :
Summary form only given. State-of-the-art design and miniaturized component development has led the way to an affordable Microwave Power Module (MPM) that meets the phased array size requirements and overall performance for ECM, RADAR, and communications transmitters. The MPM is a complete RF power transmitter that combines the best attributes of a power booster TWT, a MMIC driver SSA, power conditioning circuitry and a modulator in a miniature self-contained package. These modules can be designed for output powers of 100 to 150 Watts covering the 2 to 40 GHz frequency range with bandwidths up to 1.5 octaves. A 100 Watt module covering the 6 to 18 GHz frequency band has been developed with a volume just 7.5 cubic inches that can be stacked in an array with just 1/2 wavelength spacing at 18 GHz.
