Abstract
Spline wavelet packets and the fast integral wavelet transform are used to characterize the blood pressure waves in arteries. Because of the multiresolution properties and the real-time capability of the wavelet techniques, much more information can be obtained from the pressure waveform than by using the traditional Fourier-based method. Information obtained from these characteristics may be used to infer the pathological state of the artery. Diseases such as atherosclerosis, stenosis and others may be noninvasively diagnosed. The authors present the methods and give examples of the analysis
