Abstract :
This paper discusses the use of trajectory sensitivity analysis (TSA) in distributed generation (DG) systems. It is shown that the method can be helpful in the determination of influence of parameters such as line reactance, clearing times, exciter gain and mechanical power input on the transient stability of the system. This may be used to find the critical parameter values and also to locate DGs in the system. The variation of system stability with single and multiple DG locations is studied in the IEEE 16-machine 68-bus system. Suitably placed DGs are found to help bus voltage profiles also.
