  • Abstract
Two efficient algorithms for interlaced to progressive scan conversion are proposed in this paper. Unlike the existing algorithms that solely employ complicated filters to achieve high-dB conversion, the new algorithms adaptively use simple linear or nonlinear filters to achieve even higher-dB conversions, while maintain lower computational complexities, depending on whether the pixel to be interpolated is stationary or moving. Detection of pixel motion is performed by a simple 3-point median filter. Simulation results show that the new algorithms produce better performance both in SNR and complexity than the comparable known algorithms
