Abstract
The Systems Management Office at the NASA Langley Research Center has adopted an approach to improving performance and reducing risks in research programs and projects that recognizes the interrelationship of good program or project management and systems engineering processes in achieving success. The approach stresses early identification, improvement, and implementation of good program or project management practices through consulting and facilitated, "just-in-time" training tailored to the specific program or project. The approach also addresses process and policy improvement and value-added independent reviews and assessments. The approach is further detailed and specific activities and highlights indicating effectiveness of the approach are presented.
