Abstract :
This paper deals with the simultaneous control of idling and emissions. Three candidate controllers were developed and are compared, via simulation, with Honda´s current production controller. The simulation utilizes a detailed engine model made up of an airflow dynamics model, a combustion model, a fuel injection model, and a catalytic converter model. Data from the engine model is compared with measurements from a production engine in order to test and evaluate the model
