Abstract :
Information sharing within the social structure of honeybees results from bee-to-bee communication between distinct hierarchical levels as well as between members of the same distinct levels. Bee-to-bee interfaces occur within the hive, within localized communication patterns associated with information discovery and processing in the vicinity of the hive, and through global communication within the colony´s ecosystem. We present the Tocorime Apicu information sharing model, which is an attempt to harness the information sharing and processing models of honeybees and adapt them to information fluctuations that occur within a computer, a local area network, and a wide area network that encompasses the whole Internet. The information sharing model encompasses policies and processes that require mechanisms capable of adaptively adjusting operational parameters. These parameters are required to filter, organize, and index any large-scale data set such as the Internet: information stored on a single computer or within a network of computers, that may consist of constantly fluctuating information content over relatively short periods of time. Experimental results are presented for Web pages retrieved from the Internet by the Tocorime Apicu search engine.
