Abstract :
The causes of iridescence, a problem of increasing concern since the introduction of narrow band lamps and anodized luminaire surfaces, are discussed. Iridescence appears as induced coloration of luminaire surfaces, much like rainbow patterns associated with thin oil or soap films on water. An interim colorimetric method for measuring iridescence is described.<>
