Abstract :
This paper addresses the problem of the configuration of a detection system offering multiple modes of operation that differ in their detection performance and geographical coverage. A technique for optimal mode selection based upon minimizing Bayesian risk is formulated and demonstrated for the case of a two-mode system with a moving target. The dynamics of the target are described by a Markov model.
