Abstract
The adaptive identification of systems characterised by multipath reflections using a novel parallel adaptive filter structure is described. Each channel attempts to model one path in the system using an adaptive pure delay element cascaded with an adaptive infinite impulse response (IIR) filter. This model is more economical in the number of adaptive parameters required than a conventional finite impulse response (FIR) adaptive filter, and simulation results are given to demonstrate its potential usefulness
