Abstract
This article has shown that stray bus inductance in the power circuit of IGBT modules is significantly reduced due to the inherent electrical and mechanical characteristics of a laminated bus bar. In addition, there are significant improvements that are offered from a manufacturing standpoint from a laminated bus. These include making the system more cost efficient, more reliable by making it less susceptible to assembly errors, and saving valuable space that can be used to assist in heat dissipation or system size reduction. Also the flexibility of a laminated bus bar allows for a virtually unlimited number of terminations. This includes using slotted holes in bushings and tabs to conform to the terminal spacings on multiple types of IGBTs
