Abstract
This paper presents an optimized design method for a 4-pole 7.5kw line-start permanent magnet synchronous motor. A new kind of binary ant Colony Algorithm is applied to optimize the motor structure parameters which include rotor slot width, core length, number of conductors per slot, wire size. Binary coding is used to represent ant´s position. MATLAB program are used to calculate ant colony algorithm, parameters and performance of motor. 2-D finite element simulate is used for detailed field analysis and testing optimization result. The optimization design of motor based on ant colony algorithm is aimed at improving the starting and running performance of the motor.
