The characteristics of 8 mm synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and several major systems of 8 mm SAR all over the world are described in the paper. The technical difficulties and solutions that should be taken under UAV operational conditions are analyzed, and finally the experiment results of SAR supplied by the Institute are also presented
