Abstract :
In this presentation, an ability of integrated photonics to reach optical component market will be examined from the technology vs. economics perspective. As an example of an innovative approach that balances the two in the cost-sensitive optical access and interconnect markets, the Multi-Guide Vertical Integration (MGVI) technology developed and commercialized by OneChip Photonics Inc. will be reviewed.
