Abstract
The paper introduces the main electrical faults of an switched reluctance motor drive, which appear in the motor, power converter and rotor position detector. Effects of the electrical faults on the output of the drive are described, and analyses of the fault tolerance are made. Finally, a comparison between the four-phase motor drive and the three-phase motor drive was made with aspect to the current requirement of the normal phases with the fault tolerant control, keeping the output same as in the normal condition
