Abstract
This paper compares classical adaptive noise cancellers (ANC) with the single auxiliary element adaptive sidelobe cancellers (SLC). An equivalent relation is established between the two systems. It is shown by theoretical analysis and computer simulations that the number of jammers which a single auxiliary element ASC is capable of nulling can exceed its degree of freedom. In other words, the single auxiliary element ASC can effectively cancel multiple jammers from different directions
