Abstract :
Permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) with new rotor structure is developed in this study. Rare earth magnets can be reduced and the irreversible demagnetization can be prevented in this PMSM. This motor uses ferrite magnets in order to compensate for the reduction of rare earth magnets. To examine the performance of the PMSM, the finite element method is used. According to simulation results, the torque of the new PMSM shows 93.8% of the torque in the PMSM with only rare earth magnets, and the irreversible demagnetization can be prevented at -40°C.
