Abstract :
We design the services of the frame relay network adapter (FNIS), which is a network adapter of an advanced-information communication processing system (ACPS), and analyze its performance. The services with very different end-to-end specific protocols from each other are defined in the FNIS. When the services are multiplexed, the FNIS can be modeled as a polling system. The mean delay time of the messages in the service buffers to transmit is obtained. Also, the effects according to various combinations of services are analyzed. Finally, we discuss a condition to control the loss of messages due to congestion. Using the results, we specify the system capacity of the FNIS
