Abstract
This paper investigates the design and analysis of a dual-rotor radial flux permanent-magnet (DRRFPM) generator. The key design parameters of the DRRFPM generator are studied to achieve the best performance. The split ratio of the inner stator diameter to the outer stator diameter is optimized to take full advantage of the internal space of the machine. The polar arc coefficient is discussed to minimize the cogging torque and ensure the sinusoidal waveform of the EMF. The slot opening angular width is also considered to reduce the cogging torque. The optimal design of the DRRFPM generator is carried out by finite element analysis (FEA). The simulation results are presented.
